Sun Tzu, a renowned Chinese military strategist once said, “The Supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting”, highlighting the importance of strategic thinking and effective communication in achieving one’s goals, Grace Paddy Kirya Wanzala is on top of the game to take charge of Butembe constituency come 15th January 2026 general elections.

In the context of leadership and politics, this quote highlights the importance of strategic thinking and effective communication in achieving one’s goals.

For Grace Paddy Kirya Wanzala, the FDC candidate for the Butembe Constituency seat in Jinja district, this quote underscores the need for a leader to build consensus and work collaboratively with the community to achieve common goals.

Wanzala is emphasizing the importance of unity, vigilance, and strategic leadership.

Citing the popular Lusoga proverb, “enswa emenekera kumulyango,” which translates to “the water pot breaks at the doorstep,” Wanzala, whose campaign slogan has been hinged on transparency, accountability and improved household income is also urging voters to be proactive in protecting their democratic rights.

“…we must not take our freedom to choose our leaders for granted,” the water pot breaks at the doorstep, meaning that the most critical moment of vulnerability is often when we least expect it…”, he said.

The firebrand FDC politician has asked residents to be cautious and ensure that the votes are not bought or influenced by individuals who think they can manipulate the system with their wealth.

Just like Rotarian Marion Agaba the Executive Director Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda often says, “…when you sell your vote for shs 5,000, do not weep when your Member of Parliament (MP)sells their soul to a contractor…”, Kirya Wanzala implores residents not to be swayed by monetary enticements from some unscrupulous politicians.

As the elections approach, Wanzala is urging residents to turn out in large numbers and exercise their right to choose their leaders. He emphasized the importance of unity and vigilance in ensuring that the electoral process is free, fair, and transparent.

“…Let us stand together and demand a better future for ourselves and our children, together, we can build a brighter future for Butembe Constituency, Busoga and Uganda…”, he appeals.

With a team of dedicated supporters and a solid background in governance, Wanzala is confident of victory, but is cautioning residents against vote scavengers.

Wanzala’s campaign is built on the premise that Butembe Constituency has been neglected by previous leaders, who have failed to deliver essential services to the area.

He cited the example of former MPs Nelson Lufafa(2016-21) and David Livingston Jizan(2021-26), who served for one term each but did not make significant contributions to the constituency.

He said “…We are not just looking for votes, but for a chance to serve the people of Butembe, we want to empower our people, create jobs, and improve access to healthcare and education.”

Wanzala’s credentials are impressive, with nearly two decades of experience in public service and procurement. He has worked with various organizations, including the Government of Uganda, UNDP, UNICEF, and the World Bank. His expertise spans procurement management, contract administration, and training.

As the elections draw near, Wanzala is urging residents to be vigilant and not to sell their votes for short-term gains. “This is a golden opportunity for the people of Butembe to elect leaders who will truly serve their interests,” he said, adding, “…we must not squander this chance.”

The Importance of Strategic Leadership.

Wanzala warned that leaders who prioritize their own interests over those of the people will ultimately bring harm to the constituency.

“We need leaders who will put the people first, not their own selfish interests, leaders who will work tirelessly to improve the lives of our people, not just enrich themselves…”

Wanzala’s message corresponds with the sentiments of many residents who are eager for change. His commitment to inclusive decision-making and community-driven development has earned him widespread support.

According to commentators, Uganda’s elections have devolved into a bidding war where politicians with the deepest pockets often emerge victories, rather than those with the best ideas or leadership qualities.

This phenomenon n has led to a situation where many leaders enter office burdened by debt, having mortgaged or sold off assets to finance their campaigns. As a result, their primary focus becomes compromised, and their agendas are often hijacked by the funders or paymasters who supported their campaigns.

This trend is eroding the democratic process with voters becoming helpless and hapless, feeding on empty promises until the next election cycle. The electoral Commission led by Justice Simon Byabakama has repeatedly warned that buying votes is a crime and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have on many occasions called for urgent reforms to address illicit campaign financing and vote buying.

Why Wanzala is the Ideal Candidate.

With his commitment to inclusive decision-making and community-driven development, Wanzala has earned widespread support from residents of Butembe constituency beyond party colors.

His leadership style corresponds with the needs and aspirations of the people and he has a proven track record of delivering results.

As the people of Butembe prepare to elect their next MP, they have a clear choice: to re-elect the proxies of same old politicians who have failed them or to take a chance on a new leader with a proven track record of integrity, competence and commitment to the people. Grace Paddy Kirya Wanzala’s message is clear: It is time for a change.

In conclusion, Wanzala’s leadership bid is not just about winning an election, it is about building a better future for the people of Butembe. With his strategic thinking, commitment to the people and proven track record of delivering results, Kirya Wanzala is the best candidate to represent the people of Butembe in the 12 Parliament.
