Bishop Dr. Daniel Muwanga, the East and Central Africa Overseer/Archbishop of Kimaka Faith Fellowship Ministries International, has called on Christian believers in Uganda to be spiritually prepared and equipped with the right armor to overcome adversaries.

Delivering a sermon on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the charismatic Pentecostal bishop emphasized the importance of spiritual preparedness, citing Paul’s letter to the Ephesians 6:10-20.

He urged believers to “be strong in the Lord” and put on the whole armor of God to withstand the schemes of the devil and spiritual forces of evil.

Bishop Muwanga, vibrantly attired in a yellow freeway short-sleeved shirt emblazoned with the NRM logo, mirroring his wife’s elegant long yellow African fabric attire, also drew parallels between the UPDF, Ugandan national army’s vigilance and the need for Christians to be on high alert spiritually.

“The times now require that believers be on Standby Class One because the enemy/Satan has also changed its style of approach or operandi modus,” he said.

In military terms, ‘Standby Class One’ or Hali ya Tayari Daraja la Kwanza in Kiswahili, typically means being in a state of high alert, ready for immediate deployment or action. It indicates that military personnel or units are prepared to respond quickly to a situation often with minimal notice.

This level of readiness usually involves being fully equipped and prepared for deployment, being able to mobilize within a short timeframe, maintaining high situational awareness and being ready to execute assigned missions or tasks.

Bishop Muwanga’s message emphasis that Christians should be in a spiritual Standby Class One during the Lenten season means they should be highly alert and prepared to respond to spiritual challenges.

Quoting Ephesians 5:15 “be very careful then how you live not as unwise but as wise making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil”, Bishop Muwanga encouraged believers to be intentional and vigilant in their Christian walk, maximizing their time and opportunities for God’s glory.

In essence, Bishop Muwanga is urging believers to be spiritually prepared and vigilant just as military personnel are on high alert during critical situations.

According to Ephesians 6:10-20, believers are to put on the armor of God, which includes the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. This armor represents a transformed life, emphasizing dependence on God.

He also drew parallels between the current military buildup in the Middle East, particularly between the US and Iran, and the spiritual warfare Christians face. He noted that just as nations are on high alert amidst escalating tensions, Christians should be spiritually prepared, citing Ephesians 6:10-20.

The bishop emphasized that believers are engaged in a spiritual war against “the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12, ESV).

He urged Christians to put on the full armor of God, including truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God, to withstand these spiritual forces.

Bishop Muwanga’s message comes amidst a call for Christians to be vigilant and prepared for spiritual warfare. He reminded his audience that the struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil.

On some pastors who mislead their followers by promoting a passive approach to prosperity, citing ‘waiting for the Lord’ while neglecting biblical principle of stewardship and responsible action, Bishop Muwanga has instead encouraged believers to take initiative and responsibility for their lives.

The bishop also criticized some pastors who encourage people to spend excessive time praying for breakthroughs and dream jobs instead of working hard and honestly.

He emphasized that work is ordained by God and that those who do not work should not eat.

“The bible says in II Thessalonians 3;10 if a man will not work, he shall not eat, so instead of just praying, let us work hard, innovate and steward God’s creation to achieve prosperity…”, he stressed.

What You Need To Know

The ancient Roman soldiers were equipped with lorica (body armor) which had mail, plate or scale armor for protection.

They also wore galea(helmet)which protected the head and scutum or shield a large rectangular shield for defense and gladius or sword which was a short sharp sword for close combat and pila or javelins and caligae or sandals a sturdy footwear for marching.

According to antiquities, the equipment made Roman soldiers formidable in battle.

So, the imagery as employed by Paul resonated with Ephesians city with a major Roman military presence, highlighting the believer’s dependence on god’s armor to stand against spiritual forces.
